THE CHALLENGE

We are facing a growing mental health crisis, globally 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with a mental health disorder by the age of 75, and suicide ranks as the second leading cause of death among 10-34-year-olds in the United States.

Approximately 20 percent of adults grapple with mental health issues. In some groups, such as first responders, veterans, adolescents and young adults, and marginalized communities, the prevalence of severe mental health disorders like anxiety, depression, substance abuse and PTSD is even higher.

Recent data indicates that up to 30 percent of first responders experience these mental health conditions, leading to alarming suicide rates among this group. Arizona mirrors these trends, with a sharp rise in suicides in 2022 and a lack of access to mental health treatment. While advancements in medicine and psychiatry have been made, many conventional therapies and antidepressants often fall short.

Response and remission rates for these traditional treatments are inadequate for those in need, necessitating exploration of new paradigms for healing.
